Love Your Bus: 332 Bus Win for Work, Rail, and Mayland to London Links

Effective from September 2025

Good news – changes as a result of Mayland Parish Council’s successful Love Your Bus grant bid means the village now has access to earlier and later services. The new timetable aims to improve commuter transport into urban areas by linking parishioners in Mayland and Steeple with rail stations in Southminster and Burnham-on-Crouch at work-accommodating hours. It also provides later transport options into Maldon and Chelmsford, as well as a later return option into the village for Ormiston Rivers Academy students

Improved Connections

These amended services run on weekdays and are designed to allow for later return journeys into the villages than previously possible.
The changes mean residents returning from London Liverpool Street can now leave as late as 17:56 and still connect with bus services returning them home.

The amendments also mean that attendees of Ormiston Rivers Academy now have an additional later transport option to rely on when returning to the villages.

Quotes

Linda Haywood Chair of Mayland Parish Council

Fantastic news for our residents. I am so pleased we got the Love Your Bus grant which has made it possible for our residents in rural villages to get into London via trains at sensible times. This will make a big difference to people commuting daily who rely on public transport. The service is for a whole year. Let's use it and prove this is a worthwhile service to keep running in the future.

Oluwamayowa Ayodele Mayland Parish Councillor, Transport Representative

Transport is critical for ensuring access to opportunities for members of the community, inclusive of those engaged in recreational activities and working professionals both old and young who are making their way in their careers. Living within the Dengie shouldn’t be an impediment to this which is why these changes – bringing greater flexibility and adding value to the existing timetable – are ultimately welcome. It’s my hope that this signals to younger members of the community that they can pursue their ambitions, career goals and build their long-term futures here. The success of this Love Your Bus bid, delivered in partnership with First Bus, should hopefully provide a platform to pursue further improvements to local services in future bids.
